Let's have a discussion. I am willing to listen if you have problems you would like to share. I have taken many Psychology classes and like helping people not a qualified Psych. , but I like to help with what I do know.
Love to see old friends and go work out. Drop me a line and say hi.

Cheryl G said… Hi carol,
sorry to here your husband had muscular dystrophy and passed away so young. My husbands MS started off as relapsing remitting. We've been together 19 and a half years and i knew him before he had the MS. He was diagnosed with MS when he was 24 and started using a wheelchair at 27. It was at 27 his MS went into progressive MS and he has been getting steadily worse ever since. He gave up work aged 29 because he kept collapsing at work. I know abit about muscular dystrophy as my husband James was tested for that, his grandad also had MS and passed away aged 34. So when James reached that age we were understandably worried as James is so much like his grandad right down to the illness. But he is now 38. We take each day as it comes as he has it pretty bad. What does help him though is strange considering how bad he is he manages to stay positive most of the time. His body is extremely sensitive and he can't take any medication for it now. He has tried and had really bad reactions to medications in the past and gone into shock. James manages to still walk a little but gets really really tired so can't walk very far when he can walk. Obviously i have learned coping strategies over the years. I will type more on private message but i'd be interested how you learned to cope with your husbands illness and what you found helped you. I find for me working full time helps as it takes my mind off things while i'm there. I hope you are okay and dont mind me talking about your husbands illness and my husbands illness. When i get time i will type you more on private message. hope your okay. regards Chez
Carol Cook said… Yes, feel free to discuss your feelings about it with me. I had nobody to talk to, I put on a good face to the kids and my husband was not nice at times. He was however, positive toward his own life and enjoyed computers, grandsons, and many other things. I just was never put first on the list. I actually had to do some very physical caregiving for many years, which I believe took it's toll on me. Yes, write anything privately and I will tell you what I did to stay sane.

Carol Cook said… Sue. Yes, let us be friends and we can share information about each other. I miss Mom too as she died in 2009. we still have Dad and that is good. My husband is so missed , every time I say or hear something it reminds me of him. I have two girls in their 30s and one has 2 boys, 2 and 5, my dear grandsons who I get to see next weekend and I cannot wait. Sorry for your losses and with making more friends you will heal, but there will be the crying times and I know it; Hugs,Carol
