Dear friends, old and new. We have some important news about Mutual Friends for you. We want to keep Mutual Friends fresh and up to date for you. We want to give you all the features you expect.

We're only a small outfit, and Mutual Friends has always been free of charge, so we're operating under considerable constraints. So what to do? Now for the good news!        We've moved Mutual Friends to a brand new platform!

This means lots of improvements. As well as a new navigation and menu system, there are stacks of new features. We have introduced:

• improved photo galleries
• improved profile pages
• improved private messaging
• personal blogs
• better forums
• status updates
• profile commenting
• photo editing and tagging
• events
• video uploads
• ability to Like profiles, comments
• a vastly improved invitation engine
• apps (install games and other widgets to improve your experience)
• proper integration with Facebook and Twitter
• RSS feeds (keep up to date with MF via your RSS reader)
• gift-giving
• and much more

What's the catch?

Well, the catch is we need to ask you to transfer your own account to the new Mutual Friends. We cannot automatically transfer your account for you. Why? Because you need to agree to a new set of terms and conditions, and also for data protection reasons. We know that's a drag, we're really sorry. But we do hope that you will see the advantages of having an account on the new Mutual Friends.

Will Mutual Friends still be free?

Yes! Most definitely yes. We don't intend to charge anything to gain full access to all the features of Mutual Friends. We will generate the revenue required to run the site by accepting ads that will be relevant to you, just like we do now.

One thing - you'll be able to buy Mutual Friends credits using real money  - these can be traded in for gifts. Please note this will be purely optional, and there'll always be free gifts available too.

So don't worry, Mutual Friends started as a free site and will remain resolutely free of charge.

Will I lose touch with my old Mutual Friends pals?

No - we'll make sure you don't. We'll continue to run Mutual Friends as it is now, but on a separate web address (http://old.mutualfriends.com). So you can still message and get the contact details of your old pals. 

We plan to run the old site for at least four months. If after that time you still want somebody's contact details we'll be happy to forward on a message to them.

We'll be emailing all our friends on the old Mutual Friends to encourage them to come over, and we hope you'll want to use the new invitation engine to send out lots of invites too. We hope that the new MF will be buzzing with activity quite soon, and because of all the new features we think it's going to be much busier than the old site.

Why can't I log in to this new Mutual Friends?

It's because you need to sign up anew. We're really sorry but we're not allowed to transfer your data automatically from one platform to another. We need to ask you to rejoin.

What is happening to the old Mutual Friends? I liked it!

We recognise that some people liked the old MF and still have friends, contacts, messages to answers, and photos there. So we're keeping the old site working for the next few months. We're encouraging everyone to sign up again here, but you can still log in to the old site at http://old.mutualfriends.com

Why are you doing this?

We're doing it to bring Mutual Friends up to date, add loads of great features, and ensure that we can provide the fun and features that you have come to expect from social networking sites.

Will this new Mutual Friends still be free?

Yes, all our features are free (except the giving of certain virtual gifts). We don't plan to make any charges for this service any time in the future either.
